They decided to integrate an electronic contactless card into their vehicles, and then develop an application that would allow motorists to unlock and start their vehicles by simply hand gestures. The result is the card key that is now found on a majority of Renault vehicles. The card can be found located in the ignition barrel or in the centre console the car will open when the card is near and close automatically when it's moved away. The keyless entry system
The hands-free card from Renault was a ground-breaking piece of technology when it was first introduced 20 years ago. The exterior is identical but the technology has been improved to make it easier to use and more difficult to hack.
It can't be used from outside to open doors or start the car until the driver turns it on. The reason is that the radio signal antennae "around" the car are configured to detect if the key is outside or inside.
